About Carry-on Check
Last updated:
Carry-on Check helps you check what you can pack for a flight. Enter an item and your trip, and it shows the carry-on and checked bag rules that apply, with the conditions to meet and a link to the official source of each rule. It also has a battery watt-hour (Wh) calculator and a carry-on size checker.
What it covers
- Flights departing the United States.
- Three kinds of rules, kept separate: security screening (TSA), dangerous goods (FAA), and the policy of the airline that operates the flight.
- Airlines being reviewed for the first release: American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, United Airlines and Southwest Airlines. Items and airlines appear as their rules are reviewed; those still being checked are marked "In review".
What it does not cover
- Destination customs and quarantine rules. Being allowed on board does not mean an item is allowed into a country.
- Flights departing other countries, and airlines that are not listed as supported.
- A final decision. Security officers, airlines and authorities decide at the airport, and rules can change after the review dates shown.
When the site cannot confirm something, for example because a rule is missing, out of date or the sources disagree, it says so instead of guessing.
Who runs it
Carry-on Check is an independent site. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or operated by the TSA, the FAA or any airline. How rules are read and approved is described in sources and review method.
